Farmers’ markets in Superior open for the season at 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at Barker’s Island Farmers’ Market
The market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, through October.
“In spite of a cold spring, vendors are prepared to get the season started and there will be many locally produced items available,” said Sue Ann Dumke, market manager. Delicious, home-style baked goods, jams, jellies and mustards, along with maple syrup are some of the ready to eat items offered.
For those planning their own garden, healthy tomato, pepper, herb and other vegetable garden plants are abundant, as well as beautiful annual and perennial ornamentals, all suitable for our northern climate. Shoppers will also find natural, homemade soaps and garden crafts. For a special treat, try some handmade chocolates.
The Superior Downtown Farmers’ Market kicks off the season in the parking lot north of the Superior Public Library on June 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the farmers’ market, the Business Improvement District sponsors an art and craft fair and other specials throughout the downtown area.
