The Bong-Hofstedt American Legion Post 409 out of Poplar will hold memorial services at eight Douglas County cemeteries beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. The sites and times are as follows:
9 a.m. Lakeside
9:30 a.m. Maple
10 a.m. Blueberry
10:30 a.m. Brule
11 a.m. Highland
11:30 a.m. Lake Nebagamon
12:30 p.m. Poplar
John Deterling, adjutant for the post, said the services are well-attended, with about 40 people at each cemetery. Everyone is invited to attend the services.
The American Legion Lockman-Jensen Post 499 out of Gordon will host a number of Memorial Day programs and cemetery services Monday. At 8:15 a.m. there will be a memorial service at Wascott Cemetery. A Memorial Day program takes place at 9 a.m. at the Gordon Town Hall including music by the Northwood High School band. A memorial service takes place at Gordon Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. followed by refreshments at the Gordon Town Hall. At 10:45 a memorial service will be held at Bennett Lutheran Cemetery with a possible fly-over by the Air National Guard, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at the Bennett Lutheran Memorial Cemetery. A Memorial Day program will be held at 11:45 a.m. at Solon Springs High School with music by the Solon Springs High School band. Memorial services will be held at 12:15 p.m. at Solon Springs Evergreen Cemetery and 12:30 p.m. at Solon Springs Catholic Cemetery.
