UPDATE: Suspect arrested for Genesis shooting deathA suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a man shot in the Genesis Attachments parking lot Thursday afternoon.
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a man shot in the Genesis Attachments parking lot on Connors Point Thursday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound there.
When officers arrived, they located a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Essentia Health where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Evidence and investigative leads have confirmed that the death of a man is not a self-inflicted gunshot wound as initially reported to 911, according to a release from Deputy Chief Nick Alexander. The fatal shooting has been determined to be a homicide. During the course of the investigation a suspect was identified and he has been taken into custody. The suspect was located at the Allyndale Motel in Duluth. The Duluth Police Department, to include their Tactical Response Team, responded and the suspect was taken into custody at about 5:55 p.m. on Thursday. The suspect was lodged at the St. Louis County Jail on a Douglas County warrant for First Degree Intentional Homicide.
The name of the victim and suspect are currently being withheld. The investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.
These are preliminary allegations and all suspects are presumed innocent by law pending future court proceedings.
