Burn ban continues in Douglas County; statewide restrictions liftedThe DNR has lifted its statewide suspension of all burning permits, although burning is prohibited in Douglas County.
The DNR has lifted its statewide suspension of all burning permits. However, there are some counties with restrictions. That includes Douglas County. Due to fire weather conditions, burning is not allowed today. Therefore, burning in barrels, debris piles, and grass or wooded areas with your annual permit is prohibited. Campfires, though strongly discouraged, are permitted if used solely for cooking or warming purposes, but the DNR encourages people to use extreme caution.
The DNR’s FLIR plane, which is equipped with the infrared camera, flew over the Germann Road wildfire area Thursday night detecting hot spots. Fire crews today are working to suppress those spots.
