Now you can weigh in on a study of the U.S. Highway 53 corridor from Solon Springs to the city of Superior.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is in the process of a preservation study to plan future improvements.
The study will include identification of locations for future grade-separated intersections along U.S. Highway 53 to preserve long-term mobility and safety of the highway. The project will result in development of a planning document and some areas may be preserved through official mapping under Wisconsin law.
No construction is planned at this time.
This meeting is the third in a series of meetings held during the planning process.
Alternatives considered during the study and recommended alternatives will be on display for potential improvements in the area of the intersections with County Road L, County Road B, and County Road E and Moccasin Mike, and the U.S. Highway 2 interchange. Grade-separated alternatives being considered at each of these locations may require closure or relocation of some local roads to ensure safe traffic flow.
WisDOT staff will be on hand to answer questions during the sessions, and the public will have the opportunity to provide verbal or written comments on the study.
Two meetings are planned. Local officials meet 2-3 p.m. Tuesday and the public is welcome to a session 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. Both meetings take place at the Hawthorne Town Hall, 7221 S. Town Hall Road. A short presentation on the study begins at 5:30 p.m.
If you are unable to attend the meeting and have questions or comments, submit them to Marc Bowker, WisDOT project manager, at 715-635-4975 or email@example.com.
