The purpose of the Dragon Round-Up is to generate awareness and excitement for the 12th annual Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival and recruit new teams to participate in the festival planned for Aug. 23-24 at Barker’s Island in Superior.
A complimentary beverage and free appetizers are offered. Information about the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is presented and questions from attendees are welcome.
An incentive option will be available for teams that sign up Thursday.
The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival kicks off the evening of Aug. 23, with a parade of teams, entertainment, including the headliner band Mynx, followed by fireworks. Racing takes place 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 24, followed by an awards ceremony. Watch the races, enjoy a variety of food vendors or peruse the Barker’s Island craft fair.
The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is one of the Northland’s premier free, family fun events, and has raised more than $1 million for a variety of Northland charitable organizations including the Bethany Crisis Shelter, Boy & Girl Scouts, Hartley Nature Center, Northland Red Cross and Northland Children’s Services.
Essentia Health Foundation is the festival’s charitable partner. Essentia Health Foundation has been the charitable partner of the festival for 10 of the 12 years, receiving more than $500,000 for a variety of programs, services and equipment relating to cancer care.
