The Superior High School softball team got back into the win column with a 14-4 six-inning win over Duluth Marshall Thursday evening at Wade Stadium.
The Spartans, now 9-1 on the season, were coming off a 5-1 loss to Cloquet.
Shannon Johnstad was the winning pitcher and Kaitlin Heinen worked the final 3 2/3 innings to earn the save. The two allowed four hits with eight strikeouts and 10 walks.
Offensively, Jessica Lindstrom was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored; Gabby Gidley tripled, single and knocked in two runs; and Taylor Johnson and Emily Hansen both singled twice, scored two runs and knocked in another.
Also for the Spartans, Heinen, Tailor Schuster and Kari Miller had a hit and RBI each and Ari Jago Rachel Fregin singled.
Superior also stole 10 bases, two each by Johnson, Hansen, Lindstrom and Heinen and one each by Gidley and Schuster.
The Spartans are back in action today at the Hibbing Tournament. They play Eveleth-Gilbert at 4 p.m. then either Hibbing or International Falls at 6 p.m.
The Spartans will then play a doubleheader at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ashland and another two games at 4 p.m. Monday at Grand Rapids.
