Dayelle Davis and Hannah Nelson, seniors at Superior High School, were selected Student Rotarians for the month of April by the Superior Rotary Club.
Davis is a member of the National Honor Society, a Senior Mentor, and a manager of the Spartan Football Team. She is also a member of the Mock Trial Team, the Forensics Team, and the Travel Club. In addition, Davis serves as a tutor at the Superior Middle School, is involved with Upward Bound, and participated in Superior Days this year. Next fall, Davis plans to attend the University of Iowa to major in Psychology. She is the daughter of Mary Davis.
Nelson is a member of the National Honor Society, the Engineering Club, the Spartan Swim Team, the Jazz Band, and the Pep Band. She also serves as vice president of Community Service for FBLA. In addition, Nelson participates in the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program, and was a youth delegate to the Superior Sister City Commission this past summer. She is a St. Luke’s Hospital Jr. Volunteer and studies dance at the Madill Dance Center. Nelson plans to study Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Technological University or the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is the daughter of Lynn and Dexter Nelson.
During the school year, Student Rotarians attend Rotary meetings and provide club members with opportunities to learn about high school programs and activities as well as the accomplishments and concerns of Superior youth. Each year the Superior Rotary Club awards two scholarships to students graduating from Superior High School. Information is available from school counselors.
