The annual Port Cities Luncheon, honoring women who volunteer, will be held in a new location this year. It will be held in the Greysolon Ballroom, 231 E. Superior St. at noon Wednesday.
Guest speaker will be Robin Washington, editor of the Duluth News Tribune. His topic will be “What’s News?”
One woman will be chosen as the Port Cities Woman of the Year for 2013. Women of the Year Nominees and their sponsors are: Denise Bussa, Junior League of Duluth; Manie Hughes, Altrusa International Club of Duluth; Kathy Kadlecek, Douglas County Historical Society; Virginia Katz, Essentia Health St. Mary’s Auxiliary and Friends of the Duluth Public Library; Diane Kettelhut, Essentia Health Miller Dwan Auxiliary, Viewcrest Health Center and Franciscan Health Center; Pat Koski, St. Luke’s Volunteer Service Guild; Nancy Odden, Duluth Woman’s Club; and Joan Peterson, Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs.
Also to be recognized are young women who are seniors in area high schools who have been active volunteers in their schools, churches, and communities. This year’s honorees are Cadence Bambenek, Duluth East High School; Gbemisola Stephanie Halverson, Proctor High School; Rebecca Hendrickson, Denfeld High School; Mary Kate Minke, Marshall School; Christine Peterson, Lakeview Christian Academy; and Jordan Wolf, Hermantown High School.
