Amy Wiitala and Emily Stack, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for March.
Amy Wiitala participates in SHS FBLA, basketball, and tennis. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the A honor roll. She was a youth delegate for Superior Days in Madison, WI. Following high school, Amy’s plans include attending the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities to pursue a degree in nursing and eventually becoming a nurse anesthetist. She is the daughter of Kristen Haux.
Emily Stack is the secretary of the SHS Key Club and participates in Interact Club, tennis, dance line and orchestra. She volunteers at Essentia Health Systems and was a student ambassador for People to People. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities after high school. Emily is the daughter of William and Nairi Stack.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings.
They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
