The Bayfield County Veterans Service Office hosts a Veterans Benefits Fair 9 a.m. to noon April 5 at the Great Lakes Visitor Center on Highway 2, Ashland.
All veterans are welcome. Bring your DD-214 or discharge papers to the event, a collaboration among Ashland, Bayfield, Iron and Douglas counties Veterans Service Officers, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Healthcare, VA Regional Office and numerous community partners.
Veterans will be able to enroll in VA health care and meet with representatives from the VA and County Veterans Service Offices. Staff will be able to assist veterans and family members on pension claims, disability claims, GI Bill questions, health benefits, burial benefits, financial literacy and employment services.
Local representatives from the Job Center, Northwest CEP, Vocational Rehabilitation, Regional Hospice and the Aging and Disability Center of the North and American Legion and VFW posts will be available.
“We have a robust Veterans Benefits Fair planned with good partnership from our local, regional and state partners. We are excited to have expertise from the VA and WDVA Regional Office in Milwaukee and Madison. The VA Twin Ports Outpatient Clinic will be available to conduct blood pressure checks and enroll veterans in to VA health care,” said Nancy Brede, Bayfield County Veterans Service officer.
