On March 21 it was announced that Congressman Sean Duffy will be named vice-chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit by Full Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, and Subcommittee Chairwoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W. Va. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction encompasses banks, credit unions and other credit-related institutions; along with oversight of the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
“It is a great honor to be appointed to this prominent position in only my second term,” said Congressman Duffy. “My new role will allow me to continue to fight for community banks and lenders, so that individuals and small businesses in Wisconsin can access capital to grow and expand their businesses. I look forward to working with Chairman Hensarling and Subcommittee Chairwoman Capito on this and other important issues.”
"Sean is the perfect candidate for the position of Subcommittee Vice Chairman,” Hensarling said. “He has proven to be a leader in promoting community financial institutions and protecting consumers in Wisconsin. His new position will allow him to further this role. I look forward to continuing to work with Sean on the full committee as he is always active in Committee hearings and works tirelessly to strengthen the safety and soundness of our country’s financial system.”
“I am pleased to have Sean join me on the leadership team for the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee,” said Chairwoman Capito. “He has been a staunch advocate for the financial institutions in his district, working to ensure that federal regulations created in Washington are workable for main street banks and credit unions in Wisconsin. I know Sean will bring a high degree of enthusiasm and a strong work ethic in carrying out oversight of the nation’s financial regulatory agencies and financial institutions.”
In addition to Congressman Duffy’s service on the Financial Services Committee, Congressman Duffy serves on the House Budget Committee and the Joint Economic Committee.
