Superior: North Country Independent Living celebrates its 25th anniversary with coffee and cake from noon to 2 p.m. in Suite 28 of the Mariner Mall, 69 N. 28th St. Free.

Duluth: Stephanie Johnson, an associate professor in the English department at the College of St. Scholastica, talks about “Christina Rossetti’s Ghosts and Victorian Death Culture” at 3:40 p.m. in Room 4119 of Tower Hall. Free.

Wascott: RAV’N (Rural Arts Voice North) hosts a Student Art Show Opening Reception announces the winner of the poster contest 5-7 p.m. at the Wascott Town Hall. The art show continues 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the town hall.

Duluth: “St. Louis River Rats”, Dixieland trio plays 6-8 p.m. at the Ratheskellar in Tycoons Alehouse and Eatery, 132 E. Superior St. Free.

Saturday

Poplar: Cub Scout Pack 212 Pancake Breakfast Spring Bash runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northwestern Elementary. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for kids. There is also an Easter egg hunt, activities, pictures with the Easter bunny and auction.

Duluth: A Gently Used Clothing Sale runs 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Parkway. The event features clothing and accessories, bake sale and third party vendors. A quick breakfast and lunch is for sale and there will be a bag sale at 2 p.m. All leftover clothing goes to Salvation Army and Safe Haven Shelter. Admission is free.

Duluth: Come check out the cool things local artists have been making at the 5th Annual Treasures of the Earth Green Goods, Craft, & Art Fair 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth, 835 W. College St. There will be a wide variety of cool things for sale.

Superior: Essentia Health Superior Auxiliary holds its 20th annual Salad Bar Luncheon and Fashion Show at noon at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1705 John Ave. Fashions from nine stores are modeled. Tickets are $8 and available at the door or at the volunteer office at Essentia Health in Superior during the morning hours.

Sunday

Esko: Esko Boy Scout Troop 152 hosts its 41st annual Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eskomo Pizza Pies on Highway 61 and Thomson Road. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, applesauce, coffee, milk and orange juice. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and children ages 12 and younger, or $20 for the whole family; children younger than 5 eat for free.

Monday

Duluth: La Leche League of Duluth offers a playgroup 10 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Parkway. Children of all ages welcome. Join us to let the children play and visit with other moms. Call 218-499-9504.

Superior: Essentia Health Superior Auxiliary meets at 10 a.m. in the conference room at the hospital. Final reports are given on the Salad Bar Luncheon and Fashion Show held Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church.

Duluth: The Parent Grief Support Group for parents who lost children older than 10 meets 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center in the 2 East Classroom on the second floor near the auditorium and chapel. Free. Call 218-781-4402.

Duluth: Rubber Chicken Theater holds auditions a 7 p.m. at the Spirit of the North Theater in Fitger’s Brewery Complex for its May 3-5 production of the new comedy “Motherhood Out Loud.” There are roles for three women and one man, all playing a wide variety of ages and types. There will be cold readings from the script.

Wednesday

Duluth: The Senior Citizen Grief and Loss Support Group meets 10-11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center in the 2 East Classroom on the second floor near the auditorium and chapel. Free. Call 218-781-4402.

Superior: Seniors dance to the oldies at the Superior Eagles Club, 1710 N. 12th St., 1-4 p.m. Music by Mr. Ed and Drummer Dave. All couples and singles welcome. Bring snacks to share for lunch. Admission $5. Lunch and coffee served at 2:30 p.m.

Superior: A workshop on “Safety Awareness for our Kids” for children ages 3-11 runs 2-4 p.m. in the meeting room of the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave. Adults must accompany children and registration is required. Contact 715-394-8866 or fien@superior.

Superior: Enjoy game day at the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave. Children and families are invited to stop by the library any time between 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to play board games and the Nintendo Wii. Free.

Cable: Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board Inc. meets at 10 a.m. at Lakewoods Resort.

Superior: The Superior Central High School class of 1957 gets together for its monthly luncheon at noon at the Shack Restaurant. All classmates, spouses and guests are invited to attend.
