The annual Easter EGG-stravaganza runs 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30 at the Lake Superior Zoo.
Bring the family and enjoy this spring tradition of hunting eggs, playing games and visiting the animals.
The Easter Bunny will be on hand to oversee the egg hunt and the coloring contest. The “Cotton Tail Cotton Candy Walk,” face painting and games keep the kids hopping. All children will go home with a great bag filled with good food and fun.
New this year is a special “toddler only” egg hunting area for children ages 0-3.
Meet our 25 new animals, including “Verde” the green tree snake, “Genner” our spotted genet and “Lynnard” the llama — our new barnyard star. Get up close and personal with our educational animals at the Griggs Learning Center.
Experience a special “Oh Fur Fun” schedule arranged for visitors to watch our animals enjoy egg-themed treats and ask our keepers questions about the animals at our zoo.
“Oh Fur Fun” animal enrichments are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. for the lemurs, 11:30 a.m. for the Amur tiger and 12:30 p.m. for the barnyard animals.
Kids are also encouraged to submit their best coloring contest entry for a chance to win a Lake Superior Zoo prize bag bursting with zoo-themed toys and food, along with two general admission tickets to the zoo. The age categories for the coloring contest are ages 2-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9 and older. The coloring contest picture and entry form are available at www.lszoo.org.
Submissions for the coloring contest can be made by mailing or bringing your entry by March 30 to the Lake Superior Zoo, 7210 Fremont Street, Duluth, MN 55807.
The Easter EGG-stravaganza is open to everyone and regular admission rates apply. Members of the Lake Superior Zoological Society are free.
