Fifth-grade students from Bryant, Cathedral, Cooper, Four Corners, Great Lakes, Lake Superior and Northern Lights elementary schools competed in the annual Track-O-Rama Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Joey Barker of Cooper set the only new record of this year’s meet. He finished the 400-meter dash in 1:10.46, eclipsing the mark of 1:10.95 set by Northern Lights’ Max Nicholson in 2011.

For the girls, Eimony Conito of Northern Lights won a pair of races for the girls, finishing first in the 50-yard dash and 100-yard dash.

Northern Lights also extended its tug o’ war winning streak, claiming its seventh straight title and ninth in 10 years. The school’s only loss in the tug o’ war came to Cooper in 2006.

This year, Northern Lights defeated Copper in the finals. The Northern Lights fifth-graders also topped Great Lakes in the first round and Four Corners in the second round.
