Virginia: The Lake Superior Binational Forum hosts a public meeting, “The Impacts of Nonferrous Mining in the Lake Superior Basin: Overview and Updates,” 12:30-5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mesabi Range Community & Technical College, 1001 Chestnut St. W. Free.

South Range: The Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 and its auxiliary hold the annual American Legion Birthday Dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Dreamland Supper Club, 4368 South County Road E. All legion and auxiliary members and spouses are encouraged to attend and celebrate the birthday of the American Legion. Order from the menu as you wish. Hayward: A free fishing expo and auction runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church in Hayward, 10655 Nyman Ave. Lunch will be available. The expo features presentations on fishing the Namakagon River, trout fishing the White River in Arkansas, musky and walleye tactics, pan fish secrets and the local sturgeon program. Demonstrators teach fly-casting, fly tying and lure-making. Historical novelist Jim Braken and angling author Kent Cowgill plan to attend. The Wild Rivers Auction begins at 3 p.m. Money raised will be used by Trout Unlimited to improve trout streams in northern Wisconsin.

Ashland: Northern Waters Library Service Board of Trustees meets at noon at its headquarters.

Superior: The ninth annual Ziigwan/Spring Powwow sponsored by the Superior Schools Indian Education Program will be held at the Superior Middle School, 3626 Hammond Ave. Grand entries take place at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. with the feast at 5 p.m. The Powwow is free. Duluth: Tamarack Dance Association presents Another Third Saturday Dance featuring the Kettle Creek Band, with Terrence and Tom calling the dances, at 7:30 p.m. at the Avalon, 404 W. Duluth: Mended Hearts Chapter 104 meets at 7 p.m. in the Wisconsin Room at Essentia/SMDC Medical Center, 407 E. Third St. Mended Hearts is a support group for those who have had a heart event, heart surgery, stents or pacemaker, and with their family and friends. The meeting on “Visiting your Friends” is free.

Wednesday

Thursday

Superior: A Ruby’s Pantry food distribution takes place at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28th St. E. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with distribution starting about 5 p.m. For a $15 donation, people receive a large amount of food. Bring bags, boxes or baskets to carry the food.

Duluth: The Mental Health Support Group meets 5-7 p.m. at Miller Dwan Medical Center, 502 E. Second St. in meeting rooms 1-3, lobby level, eastside near the auditorium.

Superior: The Fairlawn Garden Club presents Building This Year’s Wish List with Jim Fahrenholz, Green House, 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15 for a single program or $40 any 3 programs.
