Betty Ann Finstad, 79, formerly of Gordon, Wis., died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born on June 18, 1933, in Trade Lake, Wis. to Rueben and June (Hall) Erickson.
Betty Ann Finstad, 79, formerly of Gordon, Wis., died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born on June 18, 1933, in Trade Lake, Wis. to Rueben and June (Hall) Erickson.
She graduated from the former East High School, did her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and went on to receive her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.
She was employed as a librarian for the Minong School District at Northwoods High School.
Betty was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Itasca Presbyterian Church and the Gordon Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Gordon American Legion Auxiliary Post 449.
She was a well known local area artist. She won an award from the Assisted Living Federation of America's National Art competition in Feb. of 2012.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Dave) Melton, Solon Springs; four sons, Steven (Jackie) Finstad, Eau Claire, Wis., Robert (Karen) Finstad, Superior, John (Sarah) Finstad, Proctor, Minn., Bruce (Wendy) Finstad, Gordon, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and she loved her cat Cookie.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Friday, March 15, at the United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joel Huenemann, officiating.
Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery at a later date.
