KANSAS CITY — Truman State University men’s basketball junior forward Mike Carlson was named third-team all-MIAA.
Mike Carlson, who is from Superior and graduated from Duluth Marshall, averaged a team-leading 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during the regular season, ranking sixth in scoring and 11th in rebounding in the MIAA. He also recorded 36 blocks and added 37 steals, all while shooting 52 percent overall from the floor and 88 percent from the free-throw line.
Carlson scored a season-high 29 points in the 63-56 regular season finale victory at Northwest Missouri on March 2 and topped the 20-point mark eight times during the season. He added four double-doubles and led the Bulldogs in scoring in 14 of the team’s 26 games.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 10-16 mark, winning the most games by a Truman squad since the 2006-07 season.
Truman, which is located in Kirksville, Mo., lost to the Pittsburg State Gorillas 7-62 in the opening round of the MIAA tournament Monday night in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Carlson, who is the son of Glenn and Jane Carlson of Superior, finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
