The Douglas County HCE will hold a Quilt-A-Thon 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Mariner Mall.

Members and other volunteers will be making quilts for children in crisis, which are donated to city and rural fire departments, police and sheriff’s departments, hospitals and other agencies that deal with children in emergency situations. Over 100 quilts were made at the last Quilt-A-Thon.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to tie quilts or do sewing machine stitching is welcome to come for any amount of time they can spare.

Needed are donations of juvenile and flannel fabric and batting would be much appreciated. If you have them, bring darning needles for tying, scissors and measuring tape or yardstick. Sewing machines with bobbins and thread would also be welcome. The Quilt-A-Thon is an ongoing community service sponsored by the Douglas County HCE members. Come join us for a good cause.
