Chicagoans face drug charges after arrest in Superior

Two Chicago residents were arrested were on heroin-related drug charges in Superior.

Superior police arrested Kassidy Ramon Miles, 30, and Courtney Cornell Williams, 28, on Feb. 27, and the two subsequently were charged in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Each faces three counts felony manufacture/deliver heroin and one count felony possession with intent to deliver as a party to a crime.

The arrests were the result of continued efforts to interdict the sale of heroin in the Twin Ports.

The arrests resulted in the seizure of over $16,000 and about 9 grams of suspected heroin.

Follow-up to this investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at a Duluth residence in cooperation with the Duluth Police Department, the Lake Superior Drug/Gang and Violent Crime Task Force, and the Superior Police Department. An additional 250 grams of suspected heroin and three guns were seized. The estimated street value of 250 grams of heroin is $62,000, according to Superior Deputy Chief Nicholas Alexander.

Miles and Williams could face up to $25,000 in fines and imprisonment up to 12 years and 6 months on each of the three manufacture charges, up to $50,000 and imprisonment up to 15 years on the intent charge.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released, Alexander stated in a new release issued Wednesday.

Bail hearings were held for both men March 1, with initial appearances Monday. Williams was released on a $5,000 cash bond; Miles was released on a $5,000 signature bond. Each was ordered not to possess or use any controlled substances or paraphernalia without a valid prescription. Preliminary hearings for both men are set for March 20.
