The Superior Police Department is seeking public’s help to locate a suspect wanted in multiple car break-ins and fraud incidents.
This is follow up to a press release issued Feb. 13, in which police were looking for information on a dark-colored Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck, with a snowmobile in the cargo area. That vehicle was suspected to be involved in a theft from auto/ financial card crime case.
A suspect, Ryan Scott Birk, has been identified and is wanted by Superior police officers. Birk is suspected of breaking into multiple vehicles in Superior, stealing items and eventually using stolen credit cards after the thefts. Birk was detained by Duluth police officers and was in possession of multiple identification cards of reported theft victims. At that time Duluth police officers were not able to confirm reported thefts from the victims. During a joint investigation, Duluth officers were able to positively identify the truck in the Superior police news release as the same vehicle Birk was driving when he was stopped by Duluth police and found to be in possession of stolen ID and other property.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Superior Police Department at (715) 395-7678, the tip line at (715) 395-7468, or 911. The department also can be reached on Facebook or the anonymous texting tip line. The text keyword is “spdtip” to 847411 on your cell phone.
