Upcoming show honors troops past, present

Planning an Armed Services Tribute to honor men and women from the Lake Nebagamon area who have served or now serve in all branches of the military is underway. A special committee of the Nebagamon Community Association is studying the design and location of the tribute, said Rick Baga, president of NCA.

For the past few months the Armed Services Tribute committee has been collecting information about local veterans and members of the military. This information and photographs will be compiled in a booklet to be sold to raise money for the tribute.

“The information is so interesting and so indicative of the service and valor shown by local men and women; it is felt it will make a touching and meaningful publication,” said author Kay Coletta.

Local residents are asked to forward information and photographs of people who have been in the Armed Services, as well as those who served in some way at home or are still serving.

“We will be including the information and photos of any men or women who have some connection with Lake Nebagamon,” Coletta said. Information, suggestions and photographs should be sent to Kay Coletta, 11507 E. Waterfront Dr., Lake Nebagamon, WI 54849 or email ccoletta@centurytel.net.

An original musical comedy, “Kids of Komedy,” is planned for June 1 as a fundraiser for the Lake Nebagamon Tribute. The play tells the stories of the fictitious descendants of stage, screen, radio and television who participate in a show celebrating the return of local troops from duty in the Middle East.

Anyone interested in participating in the show, either in the cast or with the crew, should contact Coletta. Everyone of any age is welcome.

“We are looking for singers, dancers, musicians and actors, all amateurs, to be in this show,” Coletta said. “This is the 37th year for Lake Nebagamon shows and we would love to have anyone who has been a show before or anyone new to join the cast and crew. We have places and parts for anyone of any age and the shows are the most fun when we have grandparents, parents, kids, neighbors and friends taking part. The audiences are great and they especially love it when we screw up.

“Some of the behind the scenes jobs we have are for people who like to dabble in art and can create some scenery, stagehands, ticket takers, and of course, people who can help put up and take down chairs and tables,” she said.
