Cardinals and Evergreens advance

The Northwood Evergreens and South Shore Cardinals both won their semifinal games Friday night to advance to the WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional finals Saturday.

The Cardinals defeated Shell Lake 83-59 and will host Luck Saturday. Northwood defeated Winter 52-24 and will host Drummond. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Northwood’s match-up with Drummond comes after the Lumberjacks pulled off a stunning 67-60 overtime upset of No. 3-seeded Mellen. Drummond is the No. 6 seed in the region, and Northwood is the No. 2 seed.

South Shore, the No. 1 seed, remains undefeated on the season with a 23-0 record. No. 4-seeded Luck defeated Siren 72-42 Friday night.
