A Superior man accused of driving drunk for a sixth time makes a preliminary appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court next week.
Daryl Ray Warring, 46, faces felony operating while intoxicated-sixth offense and misdemeanor operating while revoked.
According to the criminal complaint:
Superior Police Officer Christopher Woolery was dispatched to an area near the Broadway Super America station for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. He found the vehicle parked and running behind a residence on the 1100 block of Hughitt Avenue. The driver, later identified as Warring, admitted he had gone to get something to eat. Woolery asked if he thought it was a good idea, and Warring said it wasn’t because he had been drinking.
The Superior man did poorly on field sobriety tests and blew a 0.23 on a preliminary breath test. He told Woolery he had consumed a pint of vodka and beer prior to driving. Warring has five previous drunk driving convictions in Wisconsin, the most recent in 2009.
Warring was in custody at the Douglas County Jail on Monday, according to jail staff. Cash bail of $500 was ordered. Warring was ordered not to drink any alcohol and not drive without a valid driver’s license. A status conference was set for Wednesday with a preliminary hearing next week.
