Warrant issued for woman accused of pocketing haircut money

A warrant has been issued for a Superior woman accused of pocketing cash for haircuts.

McCenzi Leigh Hanninen, 28, is facing one count of felony theft in Douglas County Circuit Court. The criminal complaint was filed Thursday. According to the Douglas County Clerk of Courts Office, a bench warrant has been issued for Hanninen.

According to the complaint:

Hanninen stole money from a Tower Avenue salon by taking cash for haircuts, than making it appear on the cash register that each of the customers presented a full punch card for a free haircut. According to the salon owner, Hanninen entered about $3,500 in fraudulent full punch card transactions between May and December in 2011.

She also discounted nearly all her haircuts on the cash register system with a $3 or $4 off coupon, although no coupons were actually taken in from customers.

Hanninen instead pocketed the money. She was also accused of providing more expensive salon services, ringing them up as less expensive ones on the cash register and keeping the difference.

Hanninen signed a termination document admitting to taking $3,465. Although a Superior address is listed on the complaint, Superior Police Detective Mike Jaszczak has tried to locate Hanninen on several occasions with no luck.

If convicted, Hanninen faces a maximum sentence of 42 months imprisonment and up to a $10,000 fine.
