Superior police are investigating an accident at a warehouse located at 1515 N. First St., which resulted in the death of the victim a little while later at a local hospital.
Around 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Superior police responded to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital emergency room in Superior. Hospital staff reported a patient had come in to the emergency room complaining of injuries resulting from a fall several hours earlier, according to a news release from Superior Detective Sgt. Derrick Hughes.
The victim, Douglas Glen Moen, 65, later died from these injuries.
Investigation by police throughout the evening and into Friday morning determined Moen had been working at the warehouse on North First Street with two other men.
The other men indicated the three of them had been moving some furniture in the building but it was very dark at the time. Moen proceeded to try to find a light switch but fell 8 to 10 feet down an elevator shaft. The other two men heard the noise and Moen yelling for help. They transported Moen to the hospital because he declined an ambulance.
