Superior students to attend classes April 1, 2 to make up snow days

Students in the Superior School District will still start their summer vacation on June 12, despite a number of weather-related closings this winter. School was canceled in the Superior School District on Jan. 11, 21, 22 and Feb. 11. While the district builds two snow days into the calendar, the other two need to be made up. In a news release Monday, District Administrator Janna Stevens said that instead of extending the school year to make up for the weather-related closures, two staff development days will instead be regular class days.

April 1 and 2 were originally scheduled as staff development days with no students. Instead, they will be regular school days and the staff development days will be slated for June 12 and 13 after students are released for summer. Stevens stressed that if any additional school days are cancelled due to bad weather, those days will have to be made up after June 11, which is currently the last day of school for students.

“Any days lost will be made up at the end of the school year,” Stevens wrote in an announcement sent out Monday.
