Man gets jail, probation for home invasion

A Superior man will spend 210 days in jail for his role in a July home invasion burglary.

Trent William Anderson, 22, pleaded no contest to felony theft from a person as a party to a crime, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct and endanger safety with the use of a dangerous weapon, both as a party to a crime, in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.

Felony counts of armed burglary and false imprisonment, both as a party to a crime, were dismissed.

Anderson was sentenced to two years of probation concurrent and 210 days in jail for the two misdemeanor counts. He was ordered to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation, have no contact with the victims and pay a total of $758 in fines and court costs.

A deferred judgment of conviction agreement was entered for the felony charge. If Anderson does not break any laws, provides a truthful statement regarding the gunman accomplice, testifies truthfully if subpoenaed for trial and complies with the conditions of his probation through Feb. 8, 2015, the charge would be dismissed.

According to the criminal complaint:

Two black males, one of whom was later identified as Anderson, knocked on the door of an apartment on the 1100 block of Hughitt Avenue, then rushed into an apartment yelling after one of the residents opened the door. The three residents were robbed at gunpoint. The two male occupants of the home were ordered to the floor and at least one had the gun held to their head by one of the suspects. The third victim, a woman, was ordered, then shoved into a bedroom by one of the suspects.

Various personal items were removed from the victims including a wallet, cell phones, identification cards and car keys. The suspects then left the residence and attempted to get inside one of the victim’s vehicles. The alarm was activated and the suspects fled.

After learning the victims had identified him, Anderson admitted he was in the apartment. He told Det. Joe Krieg with the Superior Police Department that he had been walking around with a friend and went into the apartment, but said that as soon as he saw the other guy pull the gun, he ran.
