Lake Superior Writers hosts open themed contest
Lake Superior Writers is accepting submissions for its 2013 writing contest. Submissions for the open-themes contest will be accepted in the genres of poetry (up to three poems); short-short fiction (up to 500 words); and creative non-fiction (up to 1,500 words).
Lake Superior Writers is accepting submissions for its 2013 writing contest. Submissions for the open-themes contest will be accepted in the genres of poetry (up to three poems); short-short fiction (up to 500 words); and creative non-fiction (up to 1,500 words).
Submissions must be postmarked by April 1.
The top entry/author in each genre will receive $100 plus a $50 gift card.
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished and typed. No simultaneous submissions are accepted. You may submit in more than one genre but can win in only one. All submissions are read by a panel of judges. Your name must not appear on the manuscript or poems. Contest submissions will be accepted by e-mail or regular mail. For e-mail submissions include Contest 2013, Name and Genre in subject line.
Name, e-mail, home address and phone in body of e-mail. The actual submission should be an attachment in Word document or PDF formats and should include the genre and word count. Short-short and creative non-fiction should be double-spaced and in 12-point font.
Postal submissions should also include one cover letter with name, address, e-mail and phone number plus title of submitted piece or pieces, genre and word count (short-short and creative non-fiction). Please include a second cover letter with just title of piece or pieces and genre. Submissions are not returned.
The top contest winners in each genre will be asked to read from their work at Lake Superior Writers annual meeting in spring 2013. The contest is opento members of Lake Superior Writers.
