On March 23, Superior’s annual Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame Dinner is held at the Superior Middle School. Tickets are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce, Board of Education office and from members of the Hall of Fame committee for the event.

This year’s academic honorees include Andrew Lisak and Jim Hawkins.

Athletic honorees are Casey Van Damme and Josh Nobel, and coaches P.J. O’Handley, and Gerard Ucytil.

Team honors go to the 1995 Girls Basketball Team.

Through the years, Superior has been very privileged to have Academic and Athletic honorees who have distinguished themselves in the world of academics and sports within our community, state, nation and worldwide. What other community has an academic Nobel Prize Winner, Oliver Williamson, and four National Sports Hall of Famers — Ernest “Ernie” Nevers, Alphonse “Tuffy Lemans and Harry “Bud” Grant in the Football Hall of Fame, and David “Dave” Bancroft in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Maurice “Morrie” Arnovich, former baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds; Robert “Bobby Specht, skater with the Ice Capades and the Vikings’ Doug Sutherland are just a few of the nationally known legendary honorees enshrined.

Other more recent honorees include Dominic “Dom” Moselle, former Green Bay Packer; Raymond “Bud” Somerville, World Curling Champion and Dan Conway, Master Marathoner.

The Sports Hall of Fame, which began in 1964, and the Academic Hall of Fame started in 2009, have already included numerous individuals and teams of extraordinary achievement.

Take the opportunity to join honorees, friends and fans at this great event to honor Superior’s Own.

Joanne Gidley,

member of the Superior

Athletic Hall of Fame board
