Hermantown woman missing since Valentine's Day has been found

A former Minnesota Power official who has been the subject of a criminal investigation who was reported missing has been found.

Tuesday at approximately 4 p.m. Hermantown police were notified by the husband of 55-year-old Susan Kay Thompson that she has been missing since Feb. 14 from their home in Hermantown, according to a release from Deputy Chief Shawn Padden with the Hermantown Police Department. Thompson was the subject of a criminal investigation recently and failed to appear at a court hearing on Feb. 14 in connection with such.

A second release from the Hermantown Police Department stated Thompson had been located in Pine County and taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Thompson worked as director of customer service for Minnesota Power for more than 20 years until resigning on Jan. 25, 2010, according to an article by the Duluth News Tribune. She admitted using a corporate credit card for personal expenses, that it was against corporate policy and that she defrauded the company. She pleaded guilty to the felony charge in December, according to the News Tribune, and as part of the plea deal Thompson agreed to pay $150,000 in restitution.But she failed to show up for her sentencing hearing on Feb. 14.
