Superior police are seeking information about a convenience store robbery that took place in Billings Park Tuesday.

At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, Superior Police responded to a robbery call at the ICO station located at 2704 N.21st St., according to a release from Sgt. Derrick Hughes with the Superior Police Department. Officers arrived on scene as well as the immediate area within minutes of the call coming in.

The store clerk told officers he was visiting with a customer that he knew when a younger male, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, entered the store and began “lingering” around the aisles. After the customer left the suspect male approached the counter and placed a snack item on the counter, handed the clerk a dollar and waited for change.

As the clerk opened the cash register, the suspect raised his right hand and was now holding a small-bladed knife. The suspect then demanded all the money in the register. As the suspect said this, he reached over the counter and into the cash drawer. The suspect was only able to reach the closest compartment of the drawer and was only able to get a small amount of money. The suspect then fled out of the store and ran around the building out of sight.

The suspect is described as being in his late teens to early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a small build and slight scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a knit hat, a dark-colored “puffy” jacket and tattered blue jeans.
