Superior man faces charges for dealing from jail

A Superior man is facing felony drug charges for heroin deals he allegedly participated in while in jail.

Carlos Nashun Coleman, 28, faces two counts of delivering heroin as a party to a crime. The charges in Douglas County Circuit Court stem from two January incidents monitored by law enforcement in which a total of 10 grams of heroin was allegedly delivered by Coleman’s girlfriend, Miryah Kristine Herron.

According to the criminal complaint:

In recorded phone calls from the Douglas County Jail, Coleman asked Herron how many of the things she got. She told him “Whatever you told me to get … 10.” He then gave her detailed, step-by-step directions on how to dilute heroin with a cutting agent. He suggested to her that they use a smaller amount of cutting agent to keep the substance at a higher purity level.

Later that day, Coleman called Herron to ask how it went and provided more directions for diluting heroin with a cutting agent. He also told her to give a buyer “five.” The conversation took place hours before one of the monitored drug deliveries.

The next day, Coleman called Herron from jail. She told him she talked to a guy and said she would drop off some more. The conversation was consistent with arrangements she had made during a previous monitored drug buy.

Coleman, who was still in jail, was arrested for the new charges and returned to his cell.

Herron, 23, of Hermantown faces two felony counts of deliver heroin as a party to a crime in Douglas County Circuit Court stemming from the drug buys.

If convicted, the two face a maximum penalty of five years prison for each count. Coleman’s next court appearance is slated for Friday. He also faces charges for delivering heroin and possession with intent to deliver heroin stemming from a December incident, according to online Douglas County Circuit Court records. Coleman remained in custody at the jail Monday.

Herron is scheduled to appear in court March 15. She has posted $500 cash bail and is not in custody.
