Richard G. Brown, 59, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.

Richard G. Brown, 59, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, unexpectedly in his home. He was born in Superior on Oct. 26, 1953, to Roy Q. and Lorraine (Johnson) Brown.

He proudly served his country as a United States Army Ranger and received many military honors such as the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Panama Campaign Medal.

Rick married Annette Dennis on Nov. 11, 1978, in Saxon, Wis., and celebrated 34 years of marriage.

He was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the American Legion, and he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

He was employed as a mechanic for Duluth Lawn and Sport, and prior to that, he had been employed with Montgomery Wards for over 20 years.

Rick enjoyed spending time at the rifle range. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Annette, Rick is survived by two daughters, Amy (Adam) Witt, Prior Lake, Minn., Shannon (Sean) Nelson, Belle Plain, Minn.; one granddaughter, Payton; two grandsons, Hudson and Tyler; one sister, Judy (Bob) Sullivan; three brothers, Gary (Barb Schuman) Brown, Tim (Sharon) Brown, Dennis Brown, all of Superior; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Brown; and two aunts, Dorothy Johnson and Marion Johnson.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at Noon on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
