LETTER: Candidate comes with history of school service

To the Telegram:

My name is Steve J. Stupak. As a lifetime resident of Superior and long-term employee of the school district, I would like to ask for your vote Feb. 19 for a seat on the school board.

Now that I am retired, I believe this is the only position where I can make a positive difference in the community by making balanced decisions for the students, teachers, support staff, and of course, the taxpayers.

The Stupak family has had a place in the school district for over 100 years collectively.

My dad, John “Johnny” Stupak worked as a school bus driver for 38 years.

My sister-in-law, Barb Stupak, served on the school board for nine years.

My brother, Mike Stupak, worked as an engineer for 34 years.

I worked as chief engineer for 30 years.

My biggest concerns are student education, student and staff safety, and the need to spend taxpayers money responsibly.

I want to create more of an open door policy for students, employees and taxpayers to feel they can bring concerns or suggestions to the school board that will be respectively heard and considered.

I’m confident that you would not be disappointed if you choose me to represent you as a member of your school board. Because I’ve lived and served in Superior my whole life, I understand the issues people face, and I have a vested interest in doing what I can to make it better. I hope I can count on your vote Feb. 19 and April 2.
