Dalbec, Forsythe named to NCHA all-conference team
For Forsythe, this is the third straight season where he has been named to the first team, while Dalbec is receiving All-NCHA honors for the first time, having received honorable mention last season.
The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association has announced its end-of-season awards for the 2012-13 men’s hockey season and a pair of Yellowjackets have garnered recognition.
Juniors Pat Dalbec (Superior) and Jeff Forsythe (Campbell River, British Columbia/Timberline Secondary) were both named to the All-NCHA First Team. For Forsythe, this is the third straight season where he has been named to the first team, while Dalbec is receiving All-NCHA honors for the first time, having received honorable mention last season.
Dalbec is the leading scorer for the Yellowjackets, just as he was during his sophomore season. Through 25 regular season games, Dalbec has a team-best 15 goals and 27 points. His eight power play goals also lead the team. For his career Dalbec has played 82 games for the Yellowjackets, scoring 36 goals and 32 assists for 68 points.
Forsythe is the top-scoring defenseman for the Yellowjackets with five goals, 12 assists and 17 points. His 17 points currently ranks him third on the Yellowjackets, despite missing a pair of games in December with an injury. In 79 games with the Yellowjackets, Forsythe has scored 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points.
“Both of these players have been very productive for us since they arrived on campus,” UWS Coach Dan Stauber said. “They both bring so much to the table and are a big part of everything that we try to do on the ice every day. They both work extremely hard at their games but also put in a lot of time on their schoolwork, which shows with the academic awards they’ve won as well. They are both very deserving of this and I congratulate them on these awards.”
The Yellowjackets (11-12-2) enter post-season play as the No. 5 seed in the NCHA and will travel to Twin Ports rival St. Scholastica for the first round of the Peters Cup Playoffs. Games are scheduled for Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16 at Mars-Lakeview Arena in Duluth. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. both nights. Both games can be heard live on 91.3 FM KUWS, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
