SHS girls tip Tigers; open playoffs Thursday

The Superior High School girls hockey team defeated New Richmond 4-1 Saturday afternoon in New Richmond.

Sadey Laurvick scored two goals and assisted on Amanda Hinaus’ goal.

Jordyn Thompson also scored for the Spartans, with an assist from Ari Jago.

Justine Stenberg had 23 saves for Superior, which outshot New Richmond 35-24.

The Spartans (4-14-1), who hosted the Siren Blizzard Monday night at the Superior Ice Arena, open WIAA playoff action at 7 p.m. Thursday against River Falls in Baldwin.
