Lorraine Ione Wanek

Lorraine Ione Wanek, 84, was granted her angel wings on Feb. 5th, 2013. She made her transition from this life to the next peacefully in her sleep. Her final weeks were spent in Hospice Care at Golden Living Center of Superior, Wis. where she shared a room with Elroy, her husband of 66 years.

Lorraine Ione Wanek, 84, was granted her angel wings on Feb. 5th, 2013. She made her transition from this life to the next peacefully in her sleep. Her final weeks were spent in Hospice Care at Golden Living Center of Superior, Wis. where she shared a room with Elroy, her husband of 66 years.

Lorraine was born in Duluth, Minn. on May 7th, 1928, and moved to Foxboro, Wis. several years later. She lived there until Oct. 2010, when she moved to the Golden Living Center of Superior, Wis. She had a kind heart, a gentle spirit and a devoted loyalty to her family and friends. She has left many wonderful memories behind in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lorraine will be greatly missed.

Lorraine is survived by husband, Elroy Wanek; children, Darlene Stahl of Cambridge, Minn., Kenneth Wanek (Claudia) of Foxboro, Wis. and Wendy Remmers (Dwight) of Big Lake, Minn.; grandchildren, Kevin, Brad, Christopher, Kyle, Sarah, Kalen and Lonnie; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Mitchell, Kaitlyn, Sydney and Ava; brother, Clyde Erickson (Sandy); as well as in-laws, nieces and nephews'.

Lorraine is now reunited with loved ones that preceded her in death, parents, Raymond and Lucille Erickson; daughter, Judy Wanek; brothers, Willard Erickson and Clifford Erickson; as well as many in-laws and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for their care and compassion.

A visitation will begin at 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service, Saturday, May 4, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue, Superior. Rev. Gary Garnatz will officiate. It will be a time for all to celebrate and honor Lorraine's life.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
