Sandy Eilertsen of Washburn was told last fall that she is too small to play basketball for Northern Michigan University, but the 5-foot-8 guard demonstrated she is big enough to perform for the UW-Superior women’s team. The freshman guard fired in 23 points as UWS defeated NMU 69-57. The Lady Yellowjackets outrebounded the taller Wildcats, with Geraldine Papenfuss grabbing 20 missed shots to go along with her 14 points. UWS also got 14 points from Beth Clark and 12 more from Ann DeBruin. (1984)
