County offers help with passport services

With passport season in full swing, the Douglas County Clerk’s Office provides passport acceptance services and photography services 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

With passport season in full swing, the Douglas County Clerk’s Office provides passport acceptance services and photography services 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Each applicant must appear in person and the following documentation is required to submit an application:

A completed form DS-11: Application for a Passport.

A government issued, certified birth certificate for each individual applying.

An identification card or a driver’s license.

A check or money order payable to U.S. Department of State —cash or credit cards are not accepted.

Cash, check or money order payable to the County Clerk for the processing or photograph fees.

If the child is a minor, 15 or younger, both parents must be present when applying.

Photographs cost $10 plus tax.

For adults 16 and older, passports are valid for 10 years. The passport book costs $110 and passport card costs $30. For youth 15 and younger, the passport is valid for five years. The passport book costs $80 and the passport card costs $15. In addition, each application is assessed a $25 processing fee.

The processing time for routine applications is 4-6 weeks and 2-3 weeks for expedited service. For expedited service, there is a $60 upcharge.
