Nelson, Campbell named January Youth Optimists
Taylor Nelson and Ryan Campbell, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for January.
Taylor Nelson and Ryan Campbell, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for January.
Nelson participates in volleyball, basketball, softball, Student Council, PBIS, and Pledgemakers. She is on the A honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Superior/Douglas County Youth Leadership program. Nelson is active with People to People Ambassadors program, SYO Softball and Club Superior Junior Olympic Volleyball. Following high school, Nelson would like to attend college to pursue a degree in the medical or educational field. She is the daughter of Mark and Tami Nelson.
Campbell is a Boy Scout and a former member of the Superior Rifle Team. He participates in high school soccer, FBLA and Skills UWS. Ryan is an active community volunteer including bell ringing for the Salvation Army, building a bench for the skate park, assisting with the building of a nature trail, painting at Cathedral School, and aiding a local telethon for three years. He plans to pursue a degree in marine biology after high school. Ryan is the son of Jim and April Campbell.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
