Superior school staff 'Go Red'

Friday was a bit more colorful than usual at the Superior School District administrative office. Staff took part in the national “Wear Red Day” by doing just that. People throughout the country wore the bright color to take a stand against heart disease and support women everywhere.

The staff has a theme on Fridays in the office called “Finally Feel Good Fashion Friday,” according to special education secretary Jean Drolson.

"And this just happened to fall on the perfect day for us to support the National Wear Red Day for the American Heart Association," she said.

The Go Red movement was started to raise awareness of the fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women, claiming the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year.

School district staff at the administrative offices can “pay” to wear jeans at work on Fridays, Drolson said, and they donate the funds raised to various charities. Money collected in the month of February will be donated to the American Heart Association.
