Spartan gymnasts fourth at Hudson Invite

The Superior High School gymnastics team finished fourth of seven teams Saturday at the Hudson Invitational.

Giselle Sziron and Jessica Engstrom both placed in the all-around. Sziron took third on bars and fourth on floor to finish sixth in the all-around standings, while Engstrom finished fifth on bars and took seventh in the all-around.

In junior varsity action, Cassie Strum and Anna Bronson tied for sixth on vault, and Kaitlyn DeJesus placed sixth on floor.

Superior also competed in the Rice Lake Invitational on Jan. 19. Rice Lake/Cumberland won the meet with a team score of 136.05. River Falls finished second at 134.00, and Eau Claire finished third at 133.975.

The Spartans took sixth as a team with a score of 120.725; and individually, Sziron placed fourth on bars.
