Tax forms available at Superior Library; websites recommend good reads

Our local Artist of the Month is Irene Anderson, who does paintings using various mediums. Come view her original works in the display case on your right as you enter the library lobby.

It is tax time again. The library will continue to offer federal and state tax forms and instructions to the public this year. These tax forms will be available at the end of January. In its effort to have people e-file, the state of Wisconsin limits the number of printed forms available at libraries. Tax forms are also available online at www.irs.gov and the www.revenue.wi.gov. For those who must file Minnesota income taxes, the forms are available at www.revenue.state.mn.us.

A gentle reminder that the library staff is not allowed to give any tax advice, including what forms you need to file.

We would like to thank the Friends of the Library for purchasing some much-needed items for the library. These items include a trifold presentation board and a large wheeled display easel. They also purchased children’s craft supplies and a collection of story time books. The library is very fortunate to have such a supportive Friends group.

Library staff is often asked what books we’re reading and if we can recommend any good ones. My favorite free website for this is Goodreads.com. Goodreads can help you find books by authors you may like. It can keep track of your “to read” and “already read” lists, allowing you to review and share your ratings as well as the ratings of other readers. Goodreads is also a social network that helps you connect with friends and find out what they’re reading too. The service even has an app for mobile devices. Other free websites similar to this are Shelfari and LibraryThing. If you love to read, you will love visiting these sites.
