Good morning, my name is James Farkas. Please allow me to announce my candidacy for the Superior School Board. Let me also request your kind and thoughtful consideration of the information below and on my website. Finally, allow me to request your vote in the primary and in the general election.

The overall purpose of my candidacy is to recognize and respond to the needs and concerns of all of the students, educators, parents and stakeholders in the Superior school district. My central operating philosophy will be listening and seeking collaborative solutions with all Superior school district stakeholders for the good of all of our students.

A quick summary of my specific reasons for running:

1. My goal will be to ensure that all students receive the greatest value for their investments in the Superior school system, recognizing the need for flexible academic support.

2. Ensure a safe and engaged place of learning for all students, regardless of academic or economic circumstance.

3. Foster community involvement and nurturing a culture of trust and mutual respect among all stakeholders in the Superior school district.

I am currently serving as the vocational chairperson for Superior Rotary Club 40. As a recent editorial piece noted, “literacy and education” are key mission areas of the Rotary Club. I serve as a rolling reader to two third grade classes in Superior. Teach chess to third graders in Superior, as noted in the Telegram article of May 4. Finally, I am the general manager at Northern Engineering in Superior, an engineering, mechanical repair and machining facility on Ogden Avenue.

The primary election is Feb. 19 with the general election on April 2. You may find more information about my background and candidacy at www.farkasforsuperiorschools.com. If you have any questions, ideas, concerns, you may email me at farkasforsuperiorschools@charter.net. Please consider casting your vote for James Farkas.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful consideration.

James Farkas,

Superior school

board candidate
