Free cross country ski lessons
Free beginning and intermediate cross country ski lessons for both children and adults in the classic and skate styles will be offered at the After Hours Ski Trail in the Brule River State Forest on Sunday.
Free beginning and intermediate cross country ski lessons for both children and adults in the classic and skate styles will be offered at the After Hours Ski Trail in the Brule River State Forest on Sunday.
Participants should be at the trailhead and ready to ski by 12:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome. Children must be registered by a parent or guardian, and children eight and under should be accompanied by an adult. Youth groups, such as scouts and 4-H, may participate by pre-registering. No memberships or trail passes are required.
Rental equipment will be available until 3 p.m., but only for those who pre-register and are present to check out equipment at noon. The cost for rental skis, boots and poles is $5 for youths 12 and younger and $15 for others.
Preregistration for rental equipment ends at 7 p.m. Thursday. Call Valerie Kozlovsky at 715-372-5004. For each person renting equipment provide a name; whether classic or skate-style equipment is desired; shoe size; whether the shoe size is a child or adult size; and sex, age and approximate weight and height. Please also leave your name and telephone number.
The ski lessons are sponsored by the Brule Valley Ski Club, the Brule River State Forest and the Brule Lions Club. The After Hours trailhead and parking lot are just south of Hwy. 2 on After Hours Rd., which is the first road west of the Brule River.
