Kelsey Firkus and Dani Schultz each scored two goals to lead the University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s team to a 9-1 rout over Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game Saturday afternoon at Wessman Arena.
The Yellowjackets also defeated Marian 2-1 Friday night to improve to 11-6-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the NCHA. Marian falls to 3-12-2, 2-8-2.
Firkus and Schultz each netted once in a four-goal first period and again in the second for a 6-1 advantage. The Yellowjackets added three more goals in the final stanza.
UWS outshot Marian (3-13-2, 2-9-2) 42-15.
On Friday, senior defenseman Bailey Lane scored the game-winning goal 3:28 into the third period to give No. 9-ranked UWS the 2-1 win.
UWS led 1-0 after one period on a Hayley Epema goal and Marian tied it on an Amanda Waigand power-play goal in the second period.
The Yellowjackets led 40-10 in shots on goal. Winning goalie Megan Leikkari had nine saves.
UWS plays at St. Norbert at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
