Frank J. Kongas, 68, of Oulu, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, following a short illness. He was born in Ashland, Wis. on Sept. 3, 1944 to Frank and Aileen (Rautio) Kongas.
Frank J. Kongas, 68, of Oulu, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, following a short illness. He was born in Ashland, Wis. on Sept. 3, 1944 to Frank and Aileen (Rautio) Kongas.
He was first employed as a carpenter at Wille Construction in Superior and later as a self-employed carpenter. In later years, he worked for auctioneers Stan Evavold and Brent Loberg and also the Tri-County Corridor Commission as a groomer.
Frank's favorite activity was pouring cement, and he could be counted on to show up at a pour with his truckload of tools and his ever present "Thermos" thermos of coffee.
Frank is survived by his son Frank Hietala, daughter, Jean Hietala and their mother, Rose Hietala; his longtime companion, Barbara Clinton; her daughter, Terri (Tom) Rozell and son, Scott (Dolly) Clinton and their children; his sister Rachel (Melvin) Raivala; nephew Jeff (Lydia) Raivala; great-nephew, Blake Raivala; his uncle, Carl (Marge) Rautio and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews, Todd and Grant Raivala and a great-niece, Alyssa Raivala.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
According to Frank's wishes, there will be no public services.
