The UW-Superior basketball fortunes may have been diminished. Coach Jim Gleboff suspended star forward Dave Cochrane for the balance of the season for “disciplinary reasons.” The move followed a locker-room exchange between the two following a 75-67 loss to UW-Eau Claire — the first conference loss of the season for the Yellowjackets, 4-1 in the loop and 13-2 overall. Cochrane scored only five points before he was benched by Gleboff in the first half of the UWEC game. Cochrane, a 6-foot-5 forward from Detroit and a transfer from East Central Missouri Junior College, joined the team at mid-semester of last season when the ’Jackets finished in second place in the WSUC standings. Cochran reportedly has left the Superior campus. (1979)
