Academic honors

Kaleena L. Eck and Keegan T. Ilenda of Superior made the fall dean’s list that North Dakota State University.

Jessica Vos of Superior made the fall dean’s list at St. Cloud State University.

Elizabeth Schlacks of Superior made the fall dean’s list at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Laura Schlacks of Superior made the fall dean’s list at Boston College. They are the daughters of Eric and Deborah Schlacks.

Several local students made the fall dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They include Gerald, Richard and Steven Mikel of Foxboro; Cedric Heller of South Range; and Levi Felton and Eric LaGesse of Superior.

Alayna Johnson of Poplar made the fall dean’s list at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

Many northern Wisconsin students made the fall dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Duluth. They are Luke Wohlwend of Foxboro; Kristene Goettl of Gordon; Vanessa Lee of Poplar; and Ryan Miesbauer and Kameron Young of South Range; and Kevin Antonich, Melissa Archambault, Scott Crawford, Forrest Dalbec, Elyse Gunderson, Aubrey Hagen, Taylor Kosey, Katie Latscher, Jennie Leino, David Malyuk, Shaun Mattson, Lindsay Netland, Sean Sitek, Timothy Smith and Brandon Westmoreland of Superior.

Certified

Eighty Wisconsin educators received National Board for Professional Teaching Standards this year, including Superior High School teachers Rachael Holden-Kaufman and Dan Winkler, Northern Lights Elementary School teachers Erin Schilling and Jennifer Wolfe, and Northwestern Elementary School teacher Amy Zinmer.

Graduates

Several local students graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in December, earning Bachelor of Science degrees. They include Tyler Glenn Johnson of Minong, construction with a minor in business administration; Ryan Clark of Superior, hotel, restaurant and tourism management; Ashley Marie Lahti of Maple, art education; and Erin Leanne Okonek of Minong, vocational rehabilitation.
